Do you think it’s important?
~What can you say? You’ve probably been told by one of your parents, at some time early on to sit up or stand up straight. Good advice, even if those older people didn’t look like they knew what they were talking about.
I am always telling my patients that posture is really important, but then again, some ask me, “for what?”
Let me give you a little insight on that today.
If you’re facing a potentially stressful situation-perhaps a meeting with someone at work for instance, standing or sitting up perfectly straight will prevent tension from taking over, reveal a new study in the journal Health Psychology.
The SCIENCE: Upright posture triggers the production of something called epinephrine and norepinephrine, (hormones that boost confidence calmness, and clarity.)
As a result, if you sit up and stand up straight, you will feel more in control and able to handle whatever may arise-which stops your body’s stress response!
